Psychology offers an academic approach, looking at the research of psychologists and offering the chance to conduct your own studies. You will develop transferable skills such as strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to use evidence and logic to construct an effective argument.
Volunteering or a work experience placement is a positive addition to your CV. You could also undertake an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) which allows you to pursue your own research topic.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language. You will also need grade 5 or above in GCSE maths, and grade 4 or above in GCSE science.
You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.
You will take three exams, which you will sit at the end of your second year.
You could progress to a variety of occupations and careers that tend to centre around people. This could be counselling, education, healthcare or business but extends to the social sector as social workers, therapists or clinical psychologists, and the criminal sector as forensic psychologists within the police force.Ful-tim
