French is a major language of international communication, proficiency is essential for anyone considering a career in any global or European organisation or business. French and English are the only languages spoken on all five continents.
Units include:
- understanding spoken French
- understanding written French
- translating from French to English, and from English to French
- studying modern literary texts and films
- aspects of French society.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including a grade 6 or above in GCSE French and a grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language.
You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.
100% examination including an oral exam.
There is a wide variety of job roles in which a language is considered useful, beneficial or essential. Examples include broadcast journalist, customs and excise employment worker, diplomatic service officer, English as a foreign language teacher, international aid/development worker, or logistics and distribution manager.
